KEARNEY, Neb. -- World Autism Awareness Day is recognized annually on April 2. Around 1 in 36 kids are diagnosed with autism, and its four times higher in boys than girls in the U.S., according to autismspeaks.org. A central Nebraska organization is making awareness for it a year-round effort. "The saying goes if you’ve met one individual with autism, you’ve met one individual with autism, because it’s just so completely different," Aaron Bly said. Bly is no stranger to autism.

CENTRAL CITY, Neb. — The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office responded to a pair of bad accidents over the last couple of weekends. Ethan Wibben, a Wayne County resident, was cited after his small SUV crossed the center line heading west and hit a sports car head-on halfway between Grand Island and Chapman on Highway 30. Wibben was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

KEARNEY, Neb. -- An investigative report filed to the Kearney Police Department is seeking information on a potential assault in Kearney over the weekend. The allegations claim two students at the University of Nebraska-Kearney were walking west from downtown towards a home near the UNK campus. While the details are still murky, the victims say they were assaulted in the area of 23rd Street between 5th and 6h Avenue at around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.
