DAVE LeBLANC REMEMBERS when he saw Jack Bech practice for the first time at a middle school football camp. A strength and offensive line coach at St. Thomas More in Lafayette, Louisiana, since 1995, he has seen his share of talented players come through south Louisiana. But Bech stood out. AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Sunday's marquee duel at the Masters between Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy started with fireworks but ended in silence. DeChambeau began Sunday's final round trailing McIlroy by two, then evened it up after the first hole when McIlroy made double-bogey. He took a one-shot lead on the second hole after making birdie. After four, McIlroy led by three shots and DeChambeau would get no closer all day -- on the scoreboard or in the banter between the two rivals.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Paul Pearman is used to a nonstop party on Masters week. The 64-year-old lifelong resident of Augusta has seen it all. Pearman, an eclectic artist whose home is more or less a museum on Lake Olmstead, is often at the center of the festivities. He knows his history, particularly when it comes to the local lore of Augusta National. An avid golfer, he's even built a world-class putting green in his backyard, with an impressive lighting array.

In 1993, he won his second Masters on Easter Sunday at the mother church of American golf.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- On Monday, when Augusta National closed its gates to patrons because of inclement weather, golf fans still found a historic site to pay homage to golf history. Just a mile from Augusta's iconic Magnolia Lane, they wait in the rain -- young and old, foreign and domestic -- to pay pilgrimage. As Simon (and maybe Garfunkel) once said, they've all come to look for America. It's officially Masters week in Augusta.

An appreciation for R.C. Slocum, “Texas royalty” who retired after 53 years at Texas A&M. From accelerating integration in 1972 to the Wrecking Crew, he changed the Aggies forever. "R.C. is for A&M what Coach Royal was to Texas," DeLoss Dodds said. https://t.co/GnGFwVTqOr
