MARANA, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) — Body camera video shows officers arriving at the home of a 2-year-old girl who died after being left in a hot SUV. The video shows officers talking to the girl’s father, Chris Scholtes after he left her in the vehicle for hours after getting distracted playing video games, according to one of his children. Scholtes is seen pacing around inside the home and grabbing his face while asking first responders for updates on his daughter. “Anything? Anything?” he said.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) - A Scottsdale police detective died after an accidental rifle discharge following the completion of a search warrant Thursday night. Police say that after a search warrant and arrest operation was completed detectives were unloading equipment from a vehicle near the Scottsdale Airport when a bag containing a rifle fell to the ground and discharged. Detective Ryan So was struck by the round and fellow detectives immediately rendered aid.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) - A young bear in Arizona had to be put down on Tuesday after it escaped a vehicle while on its way to being released in the wild. Arizona’s Family reports the Prescott Valley Police Department had told the Arizona Game and Fish Department about sightings of a bear on Monday morning. Authorities said they captured the animal later in the evening near Highway 89A.

PHOENIX (AZFamily/Gray News) —Two toddlers were declared dead after they were found in a backyard pool in west Phoenix on Thursday afternoon. It happened just before 3:30 p.m. near 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade said the father was the one who called 911. Crews were originally called to the home for reports that a 3-year-old was found unconscious in the pool, but they then received information it was two 3-year-old children.

PHOENIX (KPHO/Gray News) — A swarm of bees at Chase Field forced a delay at the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles game on Tuesday. The bees gathered on the foul net behind home plate. The umpires delayed the game so crews could deal with the situation. First pitch is scheduled for 8:35 p.m.The swarm of bees gathered on the very top of the net, which is a few stories high, so it was tough to reach.
