As a stay-at-home parent over the past 18 years, I have learned to love and appreciate the Public Works Department. They may think they are merely taking care of our streets, but they serve a real dual-purpose role as live entertainment for preschool-age children. I washed many dishes while the street sweepers drove back and forth. The laundry was much easier to fold when the tree-trimming crew was out the front window.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Our February honoree is Director of Operations for a healthcare company, but she excels away from work by donating her time and energy to area nonprofits. Lauren Wolf has been in Topeka for more than 20 years and she stays very busy as a wife, mother, registered nurse and healthcare director. The desire to help others started during middle school when volunteering at Topeka Zoo and a local hospital.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Our January honoree has always been a small town gal with a big heart. She helps her family business prosper, while supporting the Seneca community in a multitude of ways. Lacy Bergman was born in Goodland, Kansas but moved to Nemaha County before kindergarten. As a young girl, she was interested in sports, and she still played competitively after high school.

Olsen is an optometrist and is the founder, owner and operator of Reframed Eye, a clinic at 3508 South 25th East in Idaho Falls. It offers a range of services, including eye exams, glasses and contacts, in addition to specialized low vision care for those with eye conditions like macular degeneration.

Here’s November’s Everything Woman. Allie Foley was born in Sacramento, California, and her passion for sports was fostered early in life. “I remember my fifth birthday and getting a basketball for my birthday,” she said.
