    An application to develop age-restricted housing on the former Briarwood College campus in Southington was withdrawn last week. PGX Holdings LLC had filed an application in February with the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission seeking to change a zoning district boundary from R-40 to ARCHZ, an age-restricted cluster housing zone. The applicant intended to redevelop the 32.75-acre property at 2279 Mount Vernon Road into an over-55 residential community with 150 units.

The housing complex, developed on the former site of the West Hartford Inn at 900 Farmington Ave., features 44 one- and two-bedroom deed-restricted apartments for a mix of income levels.     The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Aetna Inc., Elevance Health  (formerly known as Anthem) and Humana, accusing the insurers of paying kickbacks to brokers to direct Medicare Advantage patients to their plansThe complaint was filed May 1 under the False Claims Act. All three insurers deny the allegations and say they will vigorously defend themselves against the claims. The lawsuit also cites three large insurance broker organizations — eHealth Inc.

    Brookfield-based Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut (OSC), which also has a location in Stamford, faces a $5 million class action lawsuit over a data breach that occurred in March. The lawsuit was filed May 6 in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut by Danbury resident Marisa Mancini on behalf of more than 22,000 patients of the orthopedic practice, and claims damages in excess of $5 million.
