Hollywood detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found Sunday in the Intracoastal Waterway, a city police spokesman said. Police spokesman Christian Lata said the department received a call around noon about  “an unresponsive person” floating in the waterway. The man was pronounced dead by Hollywood Fire Rescue. The Hollywood Police Department Detective Bureau has been assigned the case. Lata said more information will be released as it becomes available

The heads of the agencies that promote tourism in the Sunshine State are contacting Florida legislators with a dire warning about a plan to provide property tax relief throughout the state: The plan will backfire, costing thousands of jobs and millions in lost revenue. The Florida House and Senate are considering versions of a bill that would redirect money from the state’s “bed” tax, aimed at moving such funds from tourism-promoting agencies toward providing some homeowner relief.

Retail investors interested in the turbulent world of airline stocks will soon have a familiar name to trade again as Spirit Airlines will be listed on the NYSE American exchange starting April 29, the company announced Thursday. “Listing our common stock on the NYSE American is an important next step in Spirit’s continued transformation as we remain focused on returning to profitability and positioning our airline for long-term success,” said Chief Executive Officer Dave Davis in a statement.
