NEW KENT — New Kent’s Board of Supervisors voted for a $136.5 million budget that prioritizes a new courthouse at the expense of an elementary school and averts an advertised 3-cent real estate tax increase. Instead, the board supported a real estate increase of 1 cent per $100 in value, leaving members to choose whether to prioritize the building of a new courthouse or an elementary school.

NEW KENT — New Kent deputies have arrested another motorist accused of driving fmore than 100 mph on Interstate 64 following a pursuit that went through West Point, King and Queen County and Gloucester County. Deputies from the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office took Brent A. Worley, 37, of Chesterfield County into custody early Sunday morning after a high-speed pursuit that started on I-64 eastbound near the 215-mile marker, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
