Following a report by ACJOAU, which exposed the deep-seated leadership crisis rocking the National Association of Philosophy Students (NAPS), OAU Chapter, the Executive Council has issued a public apology to the association. The apology, which was e-signed by the General Secretary of the association, Bewaji Amos Olatunde, on behalf of the Executive Council, acknowledged the tensions and concerns caused by the misunderstanding between the Council and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

The University Management has debunked the allegation that there are suspicious cult-like movements on the Obafemi Awolowo University campus. This came after the Students’ Union raised a concern about the suspected cult-like movements. In a press release issued on Sunday, the Great Ife Students’ Union reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for cultism and cult-like activities, citing the institution’s legacy as a cultism-free campus.

The Great Ife Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University has expressed a strong opposition to the sudden introduction of additional sundry charges for freshmen. The university management added a ₦30,000 naira “acceptance fee” to the school fees on the e-portal, bringing the total to ₦50,000 naira, reportedly introduced last session without prior notice.

A man, disguising himself as a Muslim cleric(Alfa), was arrested on September 6, 2024, on the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) campus. He was apprehended for scamming a student of ₦55,000. The individual, who had previously scammed a student named Kafilat of ₦55,000 in November 2023, returned to the campus using the same deceptive tactics.
