A Hanson man was sentenced in Boston federal court on Wednesday, April 9, for keeping numerous mistreated dogs at his home that he used in organized dogfighting, according to the Department of Justice. John D. Murphy, 51, was sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young to one year and one day in prison, with the last three months to be served in community confinement, followed by three years of supervised release, a DOJ written statement says.
