Ennis, from Philadelphia, is the International Boxing Federation champion. Stanionis, from Lithuania, holds the World Boxing Association title.

Sanchez was in great spirits great after guiding his son, Julio Sanchez III, and heavyweight prospect Bruce Seldon, Jr. to victories on the Boxing Insiders Promotion card at the Trop. “I’ve felt horrible for a while,” Sanchez said in the locker room after Seldon’s first-round knockout win.

Young fighters smacked the heavy bags beneath pictures of late trainer Mike Hall, former Pleasantville middleweight Kevin “Killer” Watts and other members of the gym’s “Wall of Fame.”A half dozen others were shadow-boxing inside the ring, firing punches against invisible foes while sweat glistened on their faces.
