Northern Ireland’s Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has promised to attend a GAA in 2025. Lyons' pledge comes after reports that GAA President Jarlath Burns had taken aim at the minister for not taking in a senior-level GAA game. The Burke family gate crashed the swanky Ireland Funds gala dinner in Washington DC on Thursday night. The family had been protesting outside as guests arrived but entered half way through a speech being made by Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn. They approached a table in the middle of the floor and Mrs Burke said “my son is in prison”. Security and police came over to remove them. At one point, Martina and Issac Burke both fell to the floor.

Fianna Fail members will vote later on the draft programme for government for Ireland’s next ruling coalition. Party leader and deputy premier Micheal Martin will address the ard fheis conference in Dublin ahead of a debate on the proposed governance plan. The event is taking place just days before Tanaiste Mr Martin is due to become taoiseach for the second time.

Des Fahy KC was responding to a Government bid to overturn the decision of a High Court judge last year to order a public inquiry into the murder.
