    Senior distance runner Jasmine Donohue headlined the App State women’s track and field team’s efforts at the Orange and Purple Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina, Friday and Saturday. Donohue broke the App State women’s track and field program record for the 3,000 meter with a time of 9:32.67. Two other Mountaineers set records on the first day of the event.

    The App State women’s track and field team wrapped up their second event of the season Saturday at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia. Freshman pole vaulter Lilly Nichols set a program record for indoor pole vault with a clearance of 4.26m. Nichols took home fourth place in the women’s pole vault. Sophomore sprinter Kendall Johnson finished fourth in the women’s 60 meter with a personal best time of 7.56.

    App State women’s basketball took on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Saturday, securing a close win 63-60. Coming into the game the Chanticleers were 12-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Mountaineers were at .500 coming off a 68-85 loss to the Troy Trojans on Thursday. The first quarter went the way of the Mountaineers. Both teams traded threes to start the game.

    Wednesday night the App State men’s basketball team defeated Coastal Carolina 74-51 in the third game of their four-game home stand. Graduate student forward CJ Huntley recorded a career-high 15 rebounds en route to his second career double-double. Huntley scored 21 points and recorded 2 assists against the Chanticleers, leading the team in scoring. Both teams traded scores for the first few minutes of the game.

    Categories: November 19, 2024 The App State men’s cross country team competed at the NCAA Cross Country Southeast Regional in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Friday. The Mountaineers came into Rock Hill off of a Sun Belt Conference title, their third team event win of the season. Leading the Mountaineers was redshirt senior Calbert Guest. Guest finished with a time of 31:17.1, finishing in 44th position. Next up was junior Ethan Lipham who ran a 31:42.5 en route to a 69th place finish.
