Alison Caroll Idol, Charlotte Mizelle Lloyd and Adam Hege are projected to win seats on the Watauga County Board of Education. Idol, Lloyd and Hege are projected to defeat Marshall Ashcraft, Chad Cole and Tom Ross with 100% of precincts reporting. The Watauga County Board of Elections approved accepted provisional ballots at their Nov. 13 meeting which allowed The Appalachian to project winners to the Board of Education.

App State football looks to get their third consecutive win Thursday night when they travel to Conway, South Carolina, to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The Mountaineers are coming off a 28-20 win over Old Dominion on Saturday, improving their conference record to 2-3 and netting them fifth spot in the Sun Belt East Division. Coastal Carolina comes into this game with a 4-4 record. The Chanticleers started 4-1 before dropping three straight to James Madison, Louisiana and Troy.

All reported numbers will come from the North Carolina State Board of Elections or the Watauga County Board of Elections. Results reported on Election Day are unofficial projections for who will likely win each race. The Appalachian will not project a race for a particular candidate unless there is a statistical certainty the candidate will win. The county boards of elections will certify election results on Nov. 15.

The App State women’s basketball team looks to start a new chapter in the 2024-25 season with new head coach Alaura Sharp. Sharp spent six seasons at Presbyterian College as head coach of the Blue Hose. In her time there she went 76-102 with a .427 winning percentage, winning the Big South Conference Tournament and one NCAA Tournament game, winning in a play-in game against Sacred Heart.
