Work zones are areas on the road where improvements or repairs are being made, but due to distractions and speeding by drivers, they can become dangerous for everyone.

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — A new bill would allow school districts to start the year a week earlier. This means schools could open as soon as the Monday closest to Aug. 19th, however, they would have to end no later than the Friday before Memorial Day. This has been a hot topic for some districts in the area. Just last year, parents sued Carteret County Public Schools for approving classes to begin in early August which went against state law.
