Anmore is one of Metro Vancouver's smallest communities. Northwest of Coquitlam, the village could be in for a big change. A public hearing is set for Monday night, where municipal politicians will receive feedback on a proposed major development that would change the community of 2,500 people forever. If you've driven up to Sasamat or Buntzen lakes in the past few weeks, you've probably seen the signs calling out Mayor John McEwan and the council to reject the plan.

Wildfire crews continue to battle the out-of-control blaze on the northern edge of Squamish on Friday. But a combination of cool weather and more accurate aerial mapping is contributing to some good news. According to the BC Wildfire Service, the Dryden Creek wildfire is almost 60 hectares, only slightly larger than Thursday. 1130 NewsRadio Meteorologist Michael Kuss explains that winds are going to be light through the morning, while the humidity index is up.

The wildfire that is threatening parts of the north end of Squamish continues to burn Wednesday. According to the BC Wildfire Service, as of 6 a.m., the fire has grown to 14 hectares and remains out of control. Darren McPeake, the morning show announcer at Mountain FM Sea to Sky, tells 1130 NewsRadio that while driving to work Wednesday morning, he saw what looked to be more flames. "I could see the patches, best way I can describe it, of fire on the hillside. It definitely looks ominous.

It's been exactly 40 days since 11 people were killed, and dozens of others were injured in the Lapu-Lapu Day festival car-ramming attack in Vancouver. To honour the victims, a special mass is being held on Thursday. In a statement, Filipino BC says the past few weeks have not felt real for the community that is still in mourning. "Today marks 40 days since the tragic events of April 26. Forty days of grieving, remembering, surviving, and supporting one another through unimaginable loss," it said.

Some things you just have to try. @LaysCanada https://t.co/jcHhbshKRm

The scenery wasn’t spectacular and I could have done without all the garbage trucks going by 🤢 but I’m happy with today’s run. #fitness #training #firsthalf #triathlon https://t.co/mclbChiWDA
