TransLink says it's trying to fix a major problem on Lower Mainland roads - trucks hitting overpasses and downing trolley wires. The transit authority is outlining new standards for heavy trucks on Friday, and it hopes the new measures will reduce the overall number of strikes. It's also developing a new permit manual for oversized and overweight trucks. TransLink says the new rules are in the process of being greenlit by local municipalities.

Laura Jones, president and CEO of the BC Business Council, is not in favour of separating, but she understands the frustration around the lack of movement to boost the national and provincial economies. Several months after a 13-year-old teen was lured to Gyro Beach in Kelowna, swarmed, and attacked by a group of people, the last two of five teenagers accused in the case have entered guilty pleas. B.C. Crown Counsel confirms to 1130 NewsRadio that one young person entered a guilty plea back in January and was sentenced a couple of weeks ago to a two-year probation order. Guilty pleas were entered by four others on April 11, 25, and the most recent two on May 6.

Appointments to donate blood are booked solid this week as strangers roll up their sleeves following Vancouver's Lapu-Lapu Day festival tragedy. A blood drive held on Tuesday was organized by Mystica Alexandra Lopez De Leon. She and her sister were manning a booth at the festival, but luckily, she wasn't there when a black SUV sped through and struck multiple people, leaving 11 dead and dozens more injured.

On Monday evening at a church in Burnaby, friends and family of those who were killed in the Lapu-Lapu Day festival attack gathered to share memories, shed tears, and find comfort in each other. It's been just over a week since an SUV rammed into the large crowd on April 26, leaving 11 people dead and dozens of others injured. Paola Murillo, executive director of Latincouver, said Kira Salim, a New Westminster teacher-counsellor, and her family volunteered with the non-profit organization.
