Dressage athlete Genay Vaughn and her 14-year-old horse named Gino have won three West Coast World Cup qualifiers in a row and are now heading to Switzerland. Vaughn and Gino have been a team for eight years. Last month, they earned a trip to their first World Cup finals, where only the top 18 riders in the world will compete. "I qualified in the discipline of dressage which is French for training. It's kind of similar to ballet or gymnastics. You have a pattern that you must execute," Vaughn said.

The first and longest full-contact, charitable football game in the United States began 50 years ago in Sacramento at Hughes Stadium.Formerly "the Pig Bowl," the game is now called "Guns and Hoses." The game pits firefighters against police officers to raise money for local charities.The 51st annual Guns and Hoses charity football game is scheduled for Saturday, January 25 at Hughes Stadium.
