WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Two people were cited after a vehicle went into a home on Old River Road in the Bethel community on Tuesday afternoon. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when an Acura rolled through a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old just before 5 p.m. Troopers said the truck hit the Acura, pushing it into the home.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville police are looking for whoever shoved a pedestrian on a crosswalk, sending them to the hospital Thursday. Authorities said a pedestrian was crossing on Haywood Road near Craven Street. The person passed in front of a stopped vehicle, tapped it and kept walking. Then a passenger got out of the car and shoved the person down. The vehicle took off and the pedestrian was taken to Mission Hospital, police said. APD is still looking for the suspect.

MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A wildfire in Madison County had grown to about 60 acres Wednesday and is threatening several structures, fire officials said. A North Carolina Forest Service District 1 ranger said the Dan Branch Fire was reported about 2 p.m. Tuesday. According to the NCFS fire website, the blaze was 60 percent contained Wednesday afternoon. But North Carolina Forest Service District Forester Trent Duncan said the fire is threatening 13 homes/structures.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Mike Lamb, who has served as Asheville's interim police chief since December 2023 will step into the role permanently, city officials said Tuesday afternoon. Lamb has served the Asheville community for more than 26 years, rising through the ranks beginning as a patrol officer and most recently promoted to deputy chief in June 2023, city officials said in a news release.
