As the final weeks of his high school time wound down, Amador Valley senior Ben Stout faced a major decision. After finishing second in North Coast Section Meet of Champions in the high jump, Stout had the decision to advance on to the CIF State Track and Field Championships or to attend his high school graduation. The opening day of the state meet was Friday, May 30, the same day as the Amador Valley graduations ceremonies.

Luka Mijatovic was certainly well-known in the junior swimming world by virtue of success in both national and international competitions. The incoming junior at Foothill High recently won two more CIF State championships, taking the 200 and 500 freestyle races at the state meet in mid-May. It’s a big week for the baseball and softball teams at Foothill as the Falcons have advanced to the North Coast Section Division I tournaments. In baseball the Falcons were seeded No. 3 behind Granada and De La Salle. Drawing No. 14 Liberty should have guaranteed the Falcons a first-round home game, but it didn’t. Given Liberty’s status as a league champion, it gave the Lions a chance to host a first-round game.
