    By fire call May 28, 2025 | 2:29 PM A second Lac La Ronge Indian Band house has been declared a total loss by fire in the matter of days. Members with the La Ronge Regional Fire Department were called to the scene of a house fire at 4:06 a.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters were on the scene for approximately three hours. Two pets survived the house fire and were rescued by firefighters.

    By community May 28, 2025 | 11:40 AM Flags representing Pride Month and the Philippines will be raised in La Ronge next month. Permission to do so was granted by town council at a regular meeting on Monday. The Pride flag will be flown from June 1 to 7, then again from June 14 to 30, while the national flag of the Philippines will be flown from June 8 to 13.

In a provincial wildfire update on Tuesday, it was announced 1,700 people have been evacuated from Pelican Narrows because of the Pelican 2 Fire (850 hectares), while 380 people have left Hall Lake due to the Pisew Fire (51,000 ha).

    By town council May 27, 2025 | 3:14 PM The Town of La Ronge is interested in accepting a former instrument building from Nav Canada. The building, which will be stripped of its instruments, is located at the La Ronge Airport and will be ready for relocation next month. Administration has determined the building would be well suited to expand the town’s animal pound and Northern Animal Rescue operations (NAR).

The service club will be contracting eight team members through 306 Tactical Security at a cost of $20,894. Over the last two years, there has been an increase of incidents involving bear spray and other disruptive behaviour. The hiring of highly trained security personnel is a proactive measure to protect fair attendees.
