Thanks in large part to a 17-strikeout, one-hit pitching performance from senior Lizzy Sinders, host Clay City is heading to the next round of the IHSAA Class A sectional softball tournament after posting a 2-0 victory over Cloverdale on Monday. “When it comes sectional time, it’s you win or you go home,” said Clay City coach Jason Sinders, who happens to be Lizzy’s father.

The IHSAA girls track sectionals finished Wednesday after being postponed Tuesday due to a storm. Terre Haute South entered the final day in the lead with Northview second and Terre Haute North third. When final results rolled in Thursday, it was South with a convincing first place finish with 161 points. Northview finished second with 121 and North rounded out the top three with 107 points. South coach Josh Lee stayed humble in talking about his team.

The 2025 college baseball season marked the first time the Indiana State Sycamores entered the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament seeded eighth, and on Tuesday night they saw their postseason end on Day One. The Sycamores fell 14-4 in eight innings with a 10-run rule to No. 5-seeded Illinois State at Duffy Bass Field in Normal, Illinois. The loss dropped the Sycamores to 24-31 overall and 12-16 in MVC play.

After a six-hour delay due to weather in the Normal, Ill. area, Indiana State played its final game of the season Tuesday night in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament opener.
