Don't feel guilty, NBA fans. Craig Porter Jr. understands. He knows the mixed emotions you're probably dealing with now. The 6-foot-1 Porter is a second-year back-up guard with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He's also a Terre Haute native who grew up playing basketball outside his home, at Thompson Park and inside the Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club before taking his talents to Terre Haute South High School, Vincennes University, Wichita State and the Cavs as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Jillian Turner and her father, Jeremiah, shared a joyful hug just after she walked across the Hulman Center stage during Indiana State University's noon commencement Saturday. The day was extra special, as both received degrees. Jeremiah received his master of business administration in a morning ceremony, and later, Jillian received her bachelor's degree, majoring in insurance and risk management. They didn't necessarily plan to graduate on the same day.

Voters firmly ejected a referendum for an auxiliary gym at Riverton Parke Junior-Senior High School, part of Southwest Parke Community School Corp. According to unofficial results, the vote was 404 in favor, or about 37%, and 694 opposed, or about 63%. Only registered voters in the Southwest Parke Community School Corp. district could vote. Just over 3,000 voters were eligible to cast ballots, according to Phil Harrison, superintendent.
