Radar beams quite literally move at the speed of light, and when they bounce off an object in the sky and return to the radar site to be collected and analyzed, we called that an “echo.”For weather radars, echoes, also called returns, are usually precipitation falling from the sky, such as rain, snow, or even hail. However, the pulse of energy coming from the radar site gets higher above the Earth’s surface the further it travels.

Saturday will be cool, breezy off the lake, and rainy through midday. Then, Father's Day is looking just about perfect! https://t.co/0C8TWbSgif

Getting even rougher on Lake Erie tomorrow, and the rain will also make conditions less than ideal. There may be some lingering chop for Father's Day, but lighter winds should yield smaller waves. https://t.co/zamKjURQL9
