As we get into springtime, the sun climbs higher and higher in the sky. That greater sun angle heats up the Earth’s surface, but not evenly. That difference in heating over the waters of Lake Erie versus the land of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan can create a lake breeze. To understand how the lake breeze works, think about how a rock heats up a lot faster under blazing sunshine than a glass of water does.

Increasing clouds this afternoon with a lake-breeze. Highs for most will reach the lower 60s, but the lakeshore will stay in the 40s. Showers are possible late this evening and overnight, with lows around 50. Showers and storms are likely tomorrow, and a few strong, gusty storms are possible during the afternoon and evening. It’ll be warmer, humid, and windy again with highs in the upper 70s and SW gusts to 35 mph. A few off and on light showers are possible on Friday with highs in the middle 60s.
