WAUSEON — There isn’t hardly a field or court in Wauseon where you won’t find senior Tyson Rodriguez prospering this school year. Right now it is the gridiron where he is making his mark, leading the Northwest Ohio Athletic League in scoring. This winter Rodriguez will be a focal point of the Indians’ basketball team, returning after being named first team All-NWOAL in 2022-23, and after that he will hit the baseball diamond and make an impact there.

Having a passion for health and wellness for as long as she can remember, Emily Beck, founder of Wildcat Nutrition along with her husband Josh, has enjoyed sharing that passion with the Napoleon community. Beck, a 2007 graduate of Wauseon High School, both her and her husband still reside in Wauseon with their four children: Ella, Carter, Evie and Liza. She swam in high school and also in college at Hiram University in the Cleveland area.

REYNOLDSBURG — The Division of State Fire Marshal and the National Fire Protection Association are partnering to celebrate Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 8-14. Phil Kessler, fire chief of the Wauseon Fire Department, said they use this week — and this month for that matter — to highlight the importance of fire safety to area residents. “Fire Prevention Week is a great opportunity. It allows myself and our staff to get into all our schools in our district,” Kessler said.

Progress continues on the construction of a new facility for the Fulton County Senior Center at 695 S. Shoop Ave. in Wauseon, near the Fulton County Health Center. The more than $7.2 million project will construct a 20,000 square feet facility.

BOWLING GREEN — Pettisville shot a 344 and finished six strokes away from a trip to state at the Division III boys golf district tournament on Thursday at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green. The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the two-day state tournament at the OSU Scarlet Course that starts on Friday. Minster won the tournament with a score of 322, Ottoville was runner-up with 333, followed by Delphos St. John’s and Wayne Trace with 338.
