    Port of New Orleans board members unanimously voted on Thursday to approve $100 million in bonds that will, in part, fund infrastructure work to support a controversial grain terminal planned for the Holy Cross neighborhood. The approval followed an hour-long public comment session in which nearly two dozen people spoke in opposition of the terminal itself and the bond funding.

    In many ways, the Viet My Supermarket in New Orleans East is the same as it has always been. The shelves are stocked. The handwritten signs identifying products and prices are still there, some in English and some in Vietnamese.     Lawyers for the Port of New Orleans will be in court again on Feb. 27 to argue that a judge should dismiss a public records lawsuit filed by residents in Holy Cross, where a controversial grain terminal is expected to open by the summer on land owned by the Port. The lawsuit, filed late last year, focuses on a Dec. 30 informational hearing held to collect public input on whether the Port's Board of Commissioners should issue $100 million in bonds.

Just signed up for a 4-week glass blowing class. For some reason, now feels like the appropriate time for something like that. I'm also going to learn to build a table in an 8-week woodworking class starting in May.
