Nubian Néné, a dancer, choreographer, and multidisciplinary artist, is launching an interdisciplinary performance from Jan. 15, 2025, until Jan. 18. The performance is called Traceable and is a mix of visual arts, film, poetry, street and club dance styles such as Waacking, House, and Hip Hop. Nubian Néné emphasizes the importance of finding one’s true identity and caring about mental health and sisterhood. Nubian Néné grew up in Montreal and moved to New York in 2009.

The Afro-urban dance school Uplift514 in Montreal is hosting a Christmas fundraiser on Dec. 14, 2024, in collaboration with Centre d’Éducation des Adultes (CÉDA). They will collect funds to support families in the Little Burgundy neighbourhood. Abee Jean-Pierre is a dancer at L’Académie de Danse de Montréal. She feels thrilled to participate in the event. “I feel that I was born to dance,” Pierre said.

On Dec. 3, 2024, the healthcare company Novartis Canada announced that the non-profit organization Black Physicians of Canada (BPC) won $240,000 for its health equity initiative. BPC will use the funds to improve health equity for Black communities in Canada. BPC aims to build a community of Black physicians and physicians in training. Its goal is to empower these positions through mentorship and advice on advocacy, support, representation and more.

Trent Out Loud began his podcast journey after YouTube first came out. He put his two books, How Sneakers Saved My Life and How Sneakers Ruined My Life, on the platform without success. A few years ago, he tried podcasting again, and now he has a hit radio show on CFQR 600AM. Trent described his journey to success as long, ruling, and exhausting, but he said the process should be that way. “Like Kobe Bryant said, it’s not the destination. It’s always about the journey,” Trent said.

Quebec Board of Black Educators (QBBE) is a non-profit education and research institution that raises awareness about educational bias and helps communities of colour excel in school. Ciara Huggins, a former student at QBBE, sharpened her math skills and advanced her studies after receiving help from the institution. Huggins was having difficulties in her secondary three math class. Her healthcare worker recommended QBBE to her.
