Two Horses killed in Eddington crash

EDDINGTON -- A single vehicle crash in Eddington sent a driver to the hospital and killed two horses. According to Penobscot County Staff Sergeant Stephen Marko, dispatch received a call about a single-vehicle crash on the main road in Eddington around 2 p.m.The pick-up truck had a single male occupant and was hauling a horse trailer with two horses. One horse was killed during the crash, the other sustained injuries so severe that a veterinarian put it down.
Bradley residents vote to close elementary school

BRADLEY -- Bradley residents voted with an overwhelming majority to close the Villa Rand Elementary School. According to Town Clerk April Dorr, a plan is already in place for students after the school's closure. She says pre-k students will attend Alton, and K-5 students will attend Old Town Elementary. Just over 96 percent of the votes cast favored closing the school.

Suspected propane explosion damages apartment building

OLD TOWN -- Two-unit apartment in Old Town may be a total loss after a suspected propane explosion. According to Old Town's fire chief, a report of an explosion at 51 Main Street came in just before 1 p.m. Monday. When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy fire showing out of the back of the building, but were able to knock it down quickly. "With an explosion, it's tough to tell, but it does look like it pushed out some of the windows and walls.
