The overnight calm on Tranquility Court in Washington Township was shattered early Sunday when a house exploded and erupted in flames. Police said they received multiple 911 calls just after 2 a.m. and found a home at 13 Tranquility Court fully engulfed in flames and heavily damaged. According to NBC10, two body bags were removed from the scene.

This was not the way they envisioned the day starting — working up a powerful sweat before they took a step in the annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run.. Hundreds of sweltering passengers on their way to the starting line on Sunday were stuck on a northbound Broad Street subway train that lost power at the Hunting Park Station.

A 23-year-old woman was shot in the head in Center City by someone in a car that had followed her nearly 20 miles after she left work in King of Prussia early Saturday morning, police said. The victim was reported in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the left side of her forehead at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she arrived by private vehicle around 3:15 a.m., police said.

A five-mile stretch of northbound I-95 in Philadelphia is closed. The closure, between Exit 25 (Allegheny/Castor Avenues) and Exit 30 (Cottman Avenue/Rhawn Street), was announced just after 5 a.m. Saturday by the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management, which cited the cause as “police activity” but did not provide specifics. Information about the closure was not immediately available from Pennsylvania State Police. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

A 30-year-old man was shot to death and two others were wounded early Sunday morning outside a West Philadelphia bar, according to police. The man was shot multiple times throughout his body around 1:30 a.m. outside of the Deja Vu Bar and Grille at 53rd and Arch Streets and was pronounced dead a short time later at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, police said. Two other people believed to have been shot during the same incident showed up at city hospitals for treatment, police said.
