    The Powell City Council is whole again after newly-appointed Councilman Kurt Ramsey was sworn in by Mayor Tom Counts to begin Wednesday’s meeting. Ramsey was selected on April 18 to fill the unexpired term left by Christina Drummond, who announced her resignation in February. Following Drummond’s resignation, the council conducted an application and interview process to identify her replacement in alignment with the City’s charter before ultimately settling on Ramsey.

    Additional funding for the Liberty Township Fire Department (LTFD) has been secured after voters approved a 2.4-mill levy on Tuesday to support the township’s emergency services. The levy, which passed with 56.13% of the 4,475 votes cast being in favor of the additional millage, will be combined with the existing 5.6-mill fire levy renewed by voters in 2023.

Following Sunday’s service, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held outside the church at 32 Joy Ave. to officially unveil the little library, which had been up and running for three weeks.

On March 15, H.O.O.P.S. Academy opened its doors to the community, offering individual training lessons to develop better shooters and ball-handlers with the ultimate goal of building complete players. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the academy on Wednesday as a formal welcoming to the community.
