DANVILLE — A Danville man received a 12-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to attempted aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class 1 felony. Judge Mark Goodwin also sentenced Malik Noye, 23, to one year of mandatory supervised release after the prison sentence is served. Goodwin heard evidence that on July 4, 2022, Noye was at a gathering of family and friends. As a storm was approaching, a clean-up of the party began.

Renee Hunt said she has always "respected and admired" the coaches she has had as an athlete and has tried to pattern her coaching style after them. Something good must have rubbed off on her. St. Matthew Catholic School's middle school track and field team, coached by Hunt, recently finished another successful season. Thirty-two of the 68 athletes from the Champaign-based school advanced to the state meet this year, and 14 came home state champions.
