Hundreds of people in Northwest Arkansas are without power, as of 4:45 a.m. Saturday. 300 hundred customers are without power near the intersection of Wagon Wheel Rd and Highway 264 in Springdale, according to SWEPCO electric's online outage map. The company estimates power will be restored around 8:00 a.m. The Arkansas Electric Cooperative is reporting 258 people are without power across Arkansas.

A water main break closed the Arkansas Welcome Center in Van Buren Tuesday. A status update from the Arkansas Department of Transportation said the break likely won't be fixed until sometime between 9 and 10 p.m. Tuesday. It was a 12-inch main water line that broke. The welcome center is located on I-40 eastbound, near mile marker 2.6. The welcome center is a staffed rest area.

The Fort Smith school board voted to suspend a Northside High School English teacher after a racial slur was used on a test administered to students. Robert Taylor, an English teacher at Northside High School, said he used an artificial intelligence tool approved by the district to generate questions for a lesson on the book "Warriors Don't Cry," a memoir about the experiences of a Black student during school desegregation. The original recommendation from the district was to terminate Taylor.
