Waitr founder Chris Meaux and Business Report founder and columnist Rolfe McCollister have officially launched the Solomon platform, the flagship product of their new tech venture QiMana. The duo celebrated the platform’s public rollout with a launch event at the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry’s office in downtown Baton Rouge on Tuesday. Solomon first entered beta in late February, though that was an invite-only beta.

Salt Pepper Oak, a Mississippi barbecue restaurant with a sizable online following, is relocating to Baton Rouge. The Mississippi location opened near Diamondhead in February 2023 and closed in December of last year. Owner Vincent Hunt tells Daily Report the move is a homecoming of sorts. While he’s originally from the Magnolia State, he’s lived in Baton Rouge since 2007.

Despite facing a $194 million budget shortfall, the push to reduce—and perhaps eventually eliminate—Louisiana’s personal income tax remains very much alive. That’s according to state Rep. Julie Emerson, R-Carencro, who told the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday afternoon that voters’ rejection of Constitutional Amendment No. 2 last month has not derailed broader efforts to make Louisiana more competitive with states like Texas, Florida and Tennessee.
