    After a roller coaster start to the weekend series, Saturday was more of the same for the UL Ragin Cajuns. However, they weren’t on the winning side of this one, falling 10-6 to the Dallas Baptist Patriots and tying the weekend series with the No. 21-ranked team in the country. The Cajuns (7-8) will now look to respond in the rubber match as they're looking for their second series win over a Top 25 opponent at home, finishing off Nebraska at home earlier in the season.

    What could’ve been a special night for the Lafayette High Mighty Lions turned sour quickly as they fell to the Jesuit Blue Jays 45-7 in the first round of the LHSAA Division I Select playoffs at the Shrine on Airline in Metairie on Friday night. Lafayette committed five turnovers in the contest, including three interceptions and two lost fumbles. Three of the turnovers came in the first quarter as Jesuit held a 17-0 lead after 12 minutes.

    Richmond Saunier scored five touchdowns on the ground as the Lafayette High Mighty Lions controlled the Golden Tornados of Sulphur 46-15 to finish the regular season 5-5. After a scoreless first quarter of action, the Lions erupted for 23 points in the second quarter, including three touchdowns from Saunier. The sophomore signal caller opened the second half with his fourth touchdown of the night as Lafayette continued to move the football with ease against the Sulphur defense.

    CARENCRO The Carencro Golden Bears picked up their second straight win in District 3-5A play by taking down the Lafayette High Mighty Lions 28-21 at the Open Air Cro Dome. Officially named Mac Barousse Field in honor of the Bears’ longtime coach, the Bears returned home for the first time in four weeks and used a dominant performance from their junior quarterback Chantz Babineaux to carry them to a 2-4 record.
