Jeff Landry doubled down on his plans to overhaul how the state's insurance system is managed, as well as his intentions to continue to promote Louisiana's economic growth, during his address at the start of the 2025 legislative session on Monday. BATON ROUGE — The East Baton Rouge Parish Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control Board decided to move a vote originally scheduled for Wednesday morning on whether to approve or reject a budget proposal submitted to them by parish officials to a later date. The budget proposal was submitted by Mayor-President Sid Edwards and parish officials as Thrive! East Baton Rouge last week. Under Thrive!, the parish would redirect dedicated tax dollars to a city-parish general fund.

BATON ROUGE — A judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit filed against the Louisiana Department of Education and the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education by parents of Impact Charter School students. The lawsuit alleged that BESE had violated open meeting laws when it removed Impact's board of directors and replaced the body with a new slate of board members in February. The lawsuit was attempting to stop BESE's new board from taking control of the school.

BATON ROUGE - In a meeting Friday morning, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Louisiana Department of Education wiped the Impact Charter board clean. The meeting resulted in all of the board members of Education Explosion being replaced with new ones.
