inNewsSource: WBRZBATON ROUGE - A road rage dispute left a man with "very critical" injuries from a rifle shot fired by another driver on Florida Boulevard on Thursday evening. Baton Rouge Police Chief T. J. Morse said the suspected shooter, 21-year-old Stefan Scott, was arrested after crashing a couple of blocks away from the shooting scene at Florida and Sharp Road. The drivers exchanged words and Scott allegedly pulled out a rifle and shot into the other driver's vehicle.

NEW ROADS - An alleged drunk driver ran his truck through the front of a brick house in New Roads on Monday night. The wreck, which was first reported shortly before 9 p.m., happened along False River Drive near the intersection with Major Parkway. The New Roads Police Department said the driver, 38-year-old William Simmons from Kentwood, went to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

inNewsSource: WBRZLOBDELL — A man accused of leading deputies on a pursuit in a stolen East Baton Rouge Parish School District bus was arrested Wednesday morning. Samuel Selders Jr., 33, was arrested in West Baton Rouge Parish after leading the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office on a pursuit on Interstate 10 eastbound around 6:30 a.m. Deputies used spike strips to stop the bus near the Lobdell exit of I-10, the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said.

BATON ROUGE - Gov. Jeff Landry signed an executive order Thursday that requests the federal government to ban soda and candy purchases from Louisiana's food stamp program, despite saying in a public statement that the order would outright ban the practice. Landry's executive order cites Arkansas and Indiana as states that have requested United States Department of Agriculture waivers to ban sugary drinks and other unhealthy items from Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program purchases.

BATON ROUGE — East Baton Rouge Parish School Board member Dadrius Lanus has been accused of violating state nepotism laws because, during his tenure on the board, his sister worked as a clerk at a Baton Rouge school. The Louisiana Board of Ethics voted on March 6 to charge Lanus with violating nepotism laws barring elected officials from employing immediate family while they hold office. The charge Lanus faces comes with a fine of up to $10,000 and potential removal from office.
