Some of us got a break from the rain Wednesday, but brace yourself - more wet weather is headed our way, with heavy, windswept rain on the way Friday and more continuing for part of the weekend. High temperatures hit the low to mid 70s Wednesday under partly sunny skies. But the entire day was not expected to be dry for all of Greater Boston. Remember the cutoff low we've talked about all week? It's given us a couple of gloomy, rainy days here in Boston.

Better weather is in sight! We know, we get it. We're starting to sound like a broken record after all the gloomy weather we've seen over the past few days. But hang on! We're tracking a light at the end of the tunnel - with actual sunshine on the way!The cutoff low that has kept our weather unsettled over the past few days continues to push north of the Commonwealth. As a result, we can't rule out a few more scattered showers and isolated storms today.

Well, Boston, we have some good news for the weekend and some bad news. Let's start with the bad news first! We're tracking rain and potential strong storms for the weekend. Yup, another weekend in a row with rain in the forecast here in Boston. So, what about the good news? Even though we're tracking rain for your weekend, we're not expecting a complete washout. There will be some dry breaks at times on both Saturday and Sunday. Hip, hip hooray!! We'll get to all of that in a moment.

As we continue moving through this Thursday, expect a cooler day in Boston. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to near 60 due to the sea breeze. The onshore flow will keep temperatures down along the coast. However, inland communities will likely see high temperatures in the low 70s. We'll see a mix of sun and clouds. Then overnight, as a frontal system approaches the area, a few scattered showers will push through Greater Boston into early Friday morning.

We've had a beautiful stretch of weather this week, but it's all coming to a screeching halt! Showers are moving in just in time for your weekend. As we move through this first day of May, expect a cooler one. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s along the coast. We'll need to watch the sea breeze though. An easterly wind could keep the temperature closer the upper 50s near the water. Otherwise, highs will be near to the lower 70s MetroWest by afternoon.
