Hovertravel has announced that Stagecoach’s popular Route 18 bus service has been enhanced to include a new extension to Clarence Pier, offering even better connectivity for customers travelling between Southsea and QA Hospital. The Service 18 now runs every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays, stopping at Clarence Pier, opposite Hovertravel’s Southsea terminal.

Isle of Wight Council libraries will be taking part in World Book Night, a national celebration of reading and books, on 23 April. This annual event invites everyone, regardless of whether they consider themselves ‘readers’ or not, to dedicate time to reading any book in any format. At the heart of World Book Night 2025 are 'Quick Reads' — short books and great stories by bestselling authors, written in an accessible, easy-to-read style.

This Saturday evening (April 19) will see Sandown Carnival’s Easter Fireworks 'Eggstravaganza' launched from the end of the pier. Spectators are advised to arrive in time for an 8.30pm start to claim a good spot in safe viewing areas along the town’s Esplanade and seafront. The Carnival, a non-profit community group, charges no entry fee but donations are invited on the day or via www.sandowncarnival.com/easter where further details and travel advice can be found.

West Sussex County Council is proposing to install dozens of new electric vehicle (EV) charge points, and has launched a consultation to gather the views of residents who live nearby. The plans come from the West Sussex Charge point Network, a collaboration between the county council, its district and borough partners, and Connected Kerb. More than 35 new sites across the county could benefit from new dual-socket charge points, which allow two vehicles to charge at the same time.

A Worthing kebab shop has been ordered to pay over £11,000 after admitting to serious food safety offences, including failing to protect customers with food allergies. Directors of Worthing Kebab Ltd, trading as Worthing Kebab House & Pizza at 32 Teville Road, Worthing, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 3 April 2025 and pleaded guilty to all charges.
