Over 4,000 products now are marked with bright red and yellow price tags reading "Lower Price."     Sam’s Club will open its first-ever warehouse within the 209 area code. The company’s newest location will open in Lathrop, a city around 30 minutes from Modesto, Lathrop’s Economic Development Department announced Thursday. The warehouse will move into Stanford Crossing, a new shopping center along Interstate 5. Sam’s Club is expected to “significantly enhance” local shopping options, provide employment opportunities and boost economic activity within Lathrop, according to a news release.

    The Turlock Police Department is investigating the discovery at a middle school Monday morning of two loaded firearms, one of which went off when it was moved. A Dutcher Middle School staff member contacted a TPD school resource officer around 10:30 a.m. to report that a maintenance worker found two firearms on campus. One of the firearms was “accidentally discharged,” said Dominique Sanchez, the department’s public affairs analyst.
