After picking up its first win of the season April 8, Western Dubuque’s girls’ soccer team was looking to keep the positive momentum going last week, but it was not to be, as the Bobcats dropped a pair of matches to Mississippi Valley Conference opponents. Hempstead never trailed while handing WD a 3-1 loss, at Timmerman Field, in Dubuque, April 15. kAm%96 EH@ E62>D A=2J65 E@ 2 5C2H F?E:= E96 |FDE2?8D[ H:E9 2 8FDEJ H:? 2E E96:C 324<D[ 7@F?5 E96 ?6E EH:46 H:E9:?

Cascade’ boys’ golf squad continued its strong play last week with all six varsity players scoring under 45, as the Cougars defeated Anamosa, 169-191, in River Valley Conference play, April 14. There was no shelter from the strong winds buffeting Fawn Creek Country Club, but an experienced Cougar team took on the challenge to post an impressive team score. kAm“%96 3@JD A=2J65 E96 4@FCD6 :? After hitting the road for a pair of River Valley Conference soccer matches last week, Cascade’s boys’ soccer team is still looking for its first win of the year. “Another tough week for us with two losses against high quality opponents, both of whom made state last year,” said coach Tim Nieman. kAm(6DE {:36CEJ 92?565 E96 r@F82CD 2 c\_ =@DD[ E96C6[ pAC:= `c[ E@ DE2J F?362E6? @?

Cascade’s girls’ golf team played its first home meet of the season, at Fillmore Fairways, April 14, and the Cougars earned their second consecutive River Valley Conference win, defeating Anamosa, 213-248. The wind was not anyone’s friend, howling consistently at 30-plus miles-per-hour, but the Cougars did not let the conditions dictate play, posting a very respectable team total. kAm“(92E 2 H:?5J ?:89E[” D2:5 4@249 r=2:C6 |@=@?J] “!C@F5 @7 9@H E96 8:C=D A=2J65 :? I don’t pay much attention to the NBA. But this Doncic - Lakers trade is interesting. Remember the days when for the most part the team a player started the season with was the team for the season? MLB, NFL, NHL along with the NBA…..money talks. Then there is the NIL thing.

Am I the only one that thinks the Broncos - Chiefs game is what the Pro Bowl used to look like? What a joke.
