QUINCY -- A Western Big 6 Conference rematch was on deck for Quincy High Baseball facing the Galesburg Silver Streaks on Wednesday in front of the Blue Devils crowd in hope for a win this time. The game was a defensive battle between both sides with QHS holding a short 3-2 lead through six innings before Galesburg would break through with four innings in the top of the seventh. QHS would lose 6-3.

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Defense has always been a staple behind Hannibal girls soccer success and it’s been no different this season riding a three-game win streak into Tuesday’s cross river matchup with Quincy Notre Dame. The Lady Pirates played great team defense stifling the Lady Raiders with several of their shot attempts either missing the net or stopped by Hannibal goal keeper Ava Turner in route to a 5-1 win for the Lady Pirates.

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Hannibal girls soccer team carried a 22-game winning streak over North Central Missouri Conference rival Mexico entering Monday’s matchup at Veterans Sports Complex and more of the same continued with the Lady Pirates winning their fifth game this year by shutout. “We’ve been trying to do a better job winning stuff in the air,” said Hannibal head coach Eric Hill.

CANTON, Mo. — After one final season competing for the Canton Tigers on the hard wood that ended with a trip to state, Canton standout forward Preston Brewer is ready for his next basketball chapter. Before his family, friends, teammates and coaches on Friday, Brewer made his official announcement that he will stay close to home and join Quincy University Hawks basketball program next fall.

QUINCY -- The Quincy Blue Devils have played great soccer to start off the season with a heavy home schedule early on with a 3-1 record overall entering Thursday’s contest with the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones, who are coming off two straight losses after a 3-0 start. QHS goal keeper Ashley Walbring on their matchup with Sacred Heart-Griffin. “It was definitely tough, intense but we worked the ball and I got it out when I need to,” Walbring said.

QUINCY -- Fresh off a 7-0 shut out win over Palmyra, Quincy Notre Dame baseball wanted to carry that momentum on Wednesday as the Raiders hosted Highland. Two strikeouts by sophomore starting pitcher Kolton Maguire and five runs in the bottom of the first got QND going in what turned out to a 14-0 win over the now 0-4 Cougars. “Our guys have seen some things, starting to mature a little bit, still not where we want to be yet," said QND head coach Rich Polak.

QUINCY -- Quincy High School girls soccer have won four straight games against the Moline Maroons and after an intense battle Tuesday night at Flinn Memorial Stadium, they won their fifth straight with a 2-1 win to move to 2-0 in the Western Big 6 Conference this season. “The sign of a good team is sometimes you win ugly, tonight was not a pretty win” said QHS head coach Travis Dinkheller.

QUINCY -- The Quincy Notre Dame Lady Raiders soccer team has already shown improvements from last spring on the defensive side of the ball giving up just one goal in their first three games compared to four last season. Monday’s battle at Advance Therapy Field versus a strong Alton Marquette team resulted in QND still only allowing one goal in their first couple of games this season after the game ended in a 0-0 tie. QND head coach Mark Thomas on their defensive play three games into the season.

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- After a two-game road trip to start the season, Hannibal returned home for their home opener hosting a hot Kirksville Tigers team coming in with a 3-0 record. The Lady Pirates took charge early and often with a 6-0 win. “It’s important to win your first conference game have a good start and it’s good to have this win headed into the Quincy tournament,” said senior Abbie Martin.
