CONCORD, Ill. – Liberty softball was unable to hold its early lead in the Class 1A Concord Sectional title game against Havana, with the Ducks rallying back to defeat the Eagles 7-5 on Friday. Liberty took a strange hold of the momentum early in the game outscoring Havana 3-1 in the first inning and increasing its lead to 5-1 through four, but the Ducks came through with a six-run bottom of the fifth to gain the lead.

QUINCY – After a long-awaited return of summer baseball, the Gem City welcomed the Quincy Doggy Paddlers in Wednesday’s home opener against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp at QU Stadium. The crowd was packed and ready to watch the Doggy Paddlers, but unfortunately Quincy dropped their second game of the season 11-0 behind strong pitching from Illinois Valley’s Kollin Asbury, who went five innings with one hit allowed, no runs and five strikeouts.

MACOMB, Ill. -- Quincy Notre Dame softball was fresh off capturing its home Class 2A regional title and was looking to advance further in the postseason in its matchup against top-seeded Williamsville in the Class 2A Macomb Sectional semifinal on Tuesday. The game was a pitching duel between the Lady Raiders ace senior Caitlin Bunte and the Bullets pitcher Izzy Nowack, but a single run for Williamsville in the second inning was the dagger in a 1-0 loss for QND.

MENDON – The No. 3 seed Brown County Hornets have been as consistent as they come on the baseball field, riding their 23 wins into Saturday’s Class 1A Mendon Regional championship game against the No. 2 seed Jacksonville Routt Catholic Rockets. As expected, both sides elite pitching and defensive play all year led to a low scoring start to the game with the Rockets holding a short 2-0 lead through four innings before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

CAMP POINT, Ill. – After an incredible showing in their regional opener against Augusta Southeastern, Camp Point Central softball had a date with the Havana Lady Ducks in the Class 1A Camp Point Regional title game. Unfortunately for the Lady Panthers they suffered their first shutout loss of the season, losing 5-0 in a tough game going up against the pitching and defensive prowess of Havana.
