    There were several strong seasons by teams in West Central Illinois, as well as individual performances. While no local teams were able to advance further than the regional championship game, Brown County, Illini West and Pittsfield all finished north of 20 wins. Quincy Notre Dame was one win shy of 20 victories. Liberty had its most successful season in quite some time, finishing with 15 wins.

    QUINCY -- As Amick McClelland closes out her high school track and field career, she gets one last hurrah at Flinn Stadium. McClelland took part in the Missouri vs. Illinois track meet as part of the team from the Land of Lincoln, capping it off with a win in the girls 1,600-meter run. "I made a lot of friends with girls from other schools, so just getting to be on the same team as them is nice," said McClelland.

The Blue Devils started out the week with a youth camp that included the high school team mentoring and coaching the next generation. "I think it was really fun," said QHS junior center Jada Brown. "I think it's a good experience to try to develop younger kids.

    MONROE CITY, Mo. -- Titletown has been a busy place this week with Monroe City hosting its annual summer boys basketball league. Monroe City has invited teams as far east as Athens, Illinois and as far west as Glasgow, Missouri. "It's kind of neat to have teams as far away as Athens, Illinois play somebody from Glasgow, Missouri or Harrisburg," said Monroe City athletic director and boys basketball head coach Brock Edris. "You're talking about a four hour time difference.
