Flood waters are disrupting communities in parts of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, and other counties across the Pittsburgh region this morning. Just over 4 inches of rain has fallen here in the last three days. That's the second highest three-day precipitation total on record for the month of April, according to the National Weather Service. Staff meteorologist Colton Milcarek says communities in the Mon Valley will see moderate flooding as the rivers in the area crest this morning.

U.S. Steel will be acquired by the Japanese conglomerate Nippon Steel Corporation, under a $14.9 billion-dollar deal announced early this morning.
NSC will pay $55 per share for the Pittsburgh-based company.
U.S. Steel CEO David Burritt said in a statement the deal will help NSC meet the growing demand for high-grade steel in the U.S., "ensuring a competitive, domestic steel industry, while strengthening our presence globally.

The smoke from Canadian wildfires is back — the entire state of Pennsylvania is under a "Code Orange" air quality warning today. People with heart or lung disease, plus the young and the elderly, should limit outdoor activities. National Weather Service meteorologist Rich Redmond says the smoke should begin clearing out later today. "Most of the heavier smoke will be pretty high up.
