OKMULGEE, Okla. — Ground broke on a new animal adoption center in Okmulgee on June 16. 2 News Oklahoma listened to the local humane society about the need for more kennel space and the creation of a community space. Right now, a vacant plot of land in downtown Okmulgee has overgrown grass and trash lying around. But in four to six months, imagine rescue animals playing around there. That’s what the Okmulgee County Humane Society has planned for it, along with a new adoption center next door.

TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — Thousands of bridges across Oklahoma are in desperate need of repairs or replacement, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Recently, the governor signed a bill to help counties pay for all that. 2 News Oklahoma asked a Tulsa County commissioner and drivers how badly our bridges need fixing. “I lived here for 23 years, and I cross it every single day,” Dena Thomas told 2 News.

HOMINY, Okla. — Hominy has been under a boil order for 20 days now, and some residents have dealt with water issues even longer than that. This latest order came after a storm damaged a city water line. 2 News Oklahoma listened to residents as they hope this situation will end soon. "I just wish that we would get a resolution and then maybe not have it happen again just so soon," said Vicki King.

COLLINSVILLE, Okla. — It’s exciting to see people take an interest in their local history — but even more so when they’re nine years old. 2 News Oklahoma sat down with one Collinsville girl and her mom, making sure local kids know their city’s past. All the old, brick buildings lining Collinsville’s Main Street have a story to tell. One girl and her mom want kids to know those stories, so they’re publishing a children’s book on this city’s history. “We love Collinsville,” said Linda Tucker.
