    A plan to expand a traveller site has been refused due to its ‘inappropriate size’. South Holland District Council has turned down applicant Ms C Bushby’s request to create an additional 13 pitches at Green Acres Park in Gedney. The application also included a request for internal access road and landscaping at the Ropers Gate site, which currently accommodates three traveller pitches, but has received previous permission to site up to eight.

    Published: 00:01, 14 May 2025 There are serious concerns about the performance of Lincolnshire Police - particularly in how it investigates crime and how quickly it responds to incidents - the police inspectorate has said. His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) graded Lincolnshire Police’s performance across eight areas of policing. It found the force ‘requires improvement’ in four areas and is ‘inadequate’ in four areas.

    Police are not treating the death of a body discovered in a town centre this morning as suspicious. Officers were alerted to the body near St Botolph’s Church - known locally as The Stump - in Boston earlier this morning.     The opening date for a highly-anticipated burger chain restaurant and drive-thru has been announced. Fast food fans have been licking their lips at the prospect of Wendy’s opening in Spalding ever since a planning request was submitted. Now it can be revealed that the restaurant at the Lincs Gateway Business Park will be serving up the brand’s iconic square burgers from Thursday, May 22. Doors will open to the public from 7am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am.

Applicant Rutland Country Properties has lodged a request to make alterations and add a roof extension to the property at West End in Holbeach, in what appears to be a bid to encourage use of the empty office building. It is currently vacant but available to rent for £833 per month - £10,000 per year.
