Kolkata/Behrampore: The SIT and Bengal STF on Thursday arrested a third person for the murders of Haragobindo Das and son Chandan Das in Jafrabad on April 12. The arrests coincided with both the Shamsherganj and Suti police station inspectors-in-charge being removed. Bengal govt appointed Bhupatinagar circle inspector Subrata Ghosh as Shamsherganj IC and Supriya Ranjan Majhi, the traffic inspector of East Burdwan (Sadar), as the new IC of Suti.

Kolkata: Three persons were injured after reportedly being attacked by a group of assailants wielding knives and sharp weapons. Cops said the attack, which occurred around 10.30 pm near New Park Street, close to Park Circus 7-point crossing, on Tuesday, may have been motivated by previous enmity. Mohammed Tarique and his companions, Shadab and Bunty, were confronted by a group of men — led by Fardeen alias Shees — who had a dispute with them.

Kolkata: The port division police arrested a 47-year-old Visakhapatnam resident after uncovering an international job recruitment scam operating from a five-storey building in Garden Reach on Wednesday. The accused allegedly duped job seekers by promising overseas employment opportunities and providing counterfeit visas in lieu of a large sum of money, ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh.
