There were no injuries to report following a two-vehicle collision in St. John’s on Wednesday evening. At about 7:45 p.m. emergency crews responded to the crash, which occurred on Thorburn Road at the entrance to Tim Hortons. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles involved, and slowed westbound traffic approaching the traffic lights at Mount Scio Road. Paramedics assessed the occupants of the vehicles involved, but did not take anyone to hospital. Post Views: 0

Police have increased patrols to coincide with the start of what is typically a busy construction season. A traffic safety initiative in a construction zone on the Trans-Canada Highway near George’s Lake yielded multiple speed-related offences, resulting in tickets issued.

The province has announced an investment of $45,000 from the Regional Development Fund to support the West Coast Cycling Association in developing a contained trail network in the Lower Humber Valley. The goal of this project is the development of a trail network in the Lower Humber Valley. Riders will be able to start at a trailhead and ride on a self-contained network of trails before returning to the trailhead without having to ride on resource roads, highways, or municipal roads.

A child, reported missing on Random Island on Friday afternoon has been found. In a post shared on Facebook at about 1:00 p.m., Sarah Burton, mother of 8-year-old Adalyn Skinner, stated she has been found. The RCMP have confirmed that Adalyn has been located, and is safe. A search that went through the night, involving several Search & Rescue agencies, government departments, and volunteer emergency services, has come to a joyous resolution.

On May 25, a clean-up of the Outer Ring Road resulted in the equivalent of approximately three tandem dump trucks of garbage removed from the highway. The garbage consisted of a number of household items, along with a box spring, mattress and a couch. The three tandem loads of garbage consist of approximately 2,800 garbage bags, about 950 fewer bags than last spring’s clean-up.
