The integration of fiber reinforced polymers and novel lightweight design strategies in aircraft interiors offers the potential to reduce the empty take-off weight of commercial aircraft and thus decrease CO2 emissions during operation. In order to meet the mechanical requirements of high load-bearing inserts in sandwich structures, effective distribution of localized forces across the face sheets is crucial.
