    Two new businesses are set to open in Gloucester this weekend. The two latest ventures at Gloucester Food Dock are from well-known names in the county. Both Hetty’s Place and Our House - from Sibling Distillery - open this Saturday December 2. Hetty’s Place began from a flat in Gloucester Docks more than a decade ago while Sibling has become a much-loved craft gin sold in various supermarkets.

    A couple were left stunned after a cup tucked away in their garage turned out to be an antique Chinese treasure from the Qing Dynasty worth thousands of pounds. The rare, centuries-old rhinoceros horn libation cup was found by an antiques expert during a routine house visit in the Cotswolds. It was identified as a mystical Chinese antique believed to detect poison and hold aphrodisiac qualities around 350 years ago.

    Motorists and pedestrians have a new way to report problems potholes and paths after county bosses launched an app. The tool is designed to be a “new, easier and more efficient way for residents, businesses and organisations in Gloucestershire to report and get updates on everything from potholes to problem paths”. It comes after the council was given an extra £87.9m in funding from the government to repair the county’s roads network.

    Motorists heading through Gloucester city centre are warned of delays when an abnormal load travels through the city this morning. Gloucestershire Constabulary will escort a bridge - which is 4.6 metres wide and 6.4 metres high - to the Forum as part of the development in King’s Quarter. It will travel from St Albans Road in Linden, along Bristol Road and the A430. It will then head up Priory Road before arriving at Market Parade.
