The last week of June, the Preble Soil and Water Conservation District will celebrate ten years of Conservation Day Camp. The Preble County Historical Society Farm has been our host for camp since day one, and their staff, board, and other volunteers have always been more than accommodating. A small committee of about six individuals who are very involved with camp sit down a few weeks after the event each year to take notes and make plans for the next year.

EATON — Home Is The Foundation, in partnership with Preble County and the City of Eaton, is seeking input from local residents, organizations, and stakeholders as it prepares the 2025 Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program application. A community planning meeting will be held this Thursday, June 5, from 3-4 p.m. at the Eaton Youth Center, 306 Seven Mile Drive. The meeting is open to all individuals and organizations with a passion for addressing housing needs in Preble County.

CAMDEN — Preble Shawnee Elementary School student Waylon Wall was recently recognized for his extraordinary bravery and quick thinking during a life-threatening emergency in May. He was honored during the school’s annual awards ceremony, held on Thursday, May 22. On Tuesday, May 6, Wall, a third grader, witnessed a car accident involving Jim Oliver, the father of School Nurse Lori Cottingim. Oliver had fallen asleep while driving, causing his car to veer off the road and down an embankment.
