This July, Statesboro Police will have 15 to 20 fresh new faces join them on the force. “After a summer’s worth of adventures, I hope that kids can look back and say that was the funnest week that I had,” said Police Chief Mike Broadhead. The department is reviving their Teen Police Academy.

    STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) – A team of professors at Georgia Southern University (GSU) is launching four projects aimed at addressing Georgia’s opioid crisis, with a focus on rural communities. The university’s Center for Addiction Recovery received nearly $800,000 in funding to support the projects. “When we think about addressing opiate use we think about the continuum of care,” said Robert Bohler, assistant professor in the GSU College of Public Health.

    BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A Bulloch County school resource officer is taking a stand against bullying, but not just in the hallways. Sgt. Bubba Revell who serves with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, posted a series of videos of SROs congratulating the class of 2025. “I was releasing them a couple each day on Facebook and mine came up and didn’t think anything about it,” said Sgt. Bubba Revell. Revell said it’s sheriff’s office’s most widely seen video yet.
