Antiviral actions only when infected through ACE2Macrophages are critical first responders to infection but are also implicated in driving severe inflammation, particularly in patients with SARS-CoV-2. Because relatively few lung-resident macrophages have the putative SARS-CoV-2 receptor ACE2, Labzin et al. explored its role in the response of these cells to viral infection.
